WORK SCOPE:

• Dredging of a 3.0m wide channel with 1.0m batters down the centre of the canal using a 6/4 dredge;

• Dredge spoil was deposited 300m down the canal on a plastic-lined piece of land. Dredge spoil is a silty sand that required adequate settling for the silt to drop out prior to discharge back into the waterway. To cope with this, Nabis created a series of settlement ponds to capture and handle the silt from the dredge discharge;

• Double crane movement was required over a small bridge which restricted movement in the canal.
