COMPANY BACKGROUND

 

Bruce Michell is the CEO of Rimlex Pty Ltd  t/a Nabis Dredging, which now specialises in marine and related construction works. Bruce has been a qualified Civil Engineer since 1968. In the forty plus years since, Bruce has gained a broad range of experience in the building and heavy construction industries.

 

Bruce holds a current BSA licence for Project Management and medium rise building works.

 

Bruce has accumulated experiences in the following areas:

 

  • Underground construction; (shaft sinking and tunnelling)

  • Concrete sliforming of underground shafts and compartmentalised column structures;

  • Design and erection of steel industrial buildings;

  • Design and construction of residential roads and in-ground services;

  • Dam construction; (Concrete arch, earth and rockfill)

  • Heavy foundation construction, including piled foundations, heavy concrete raft footings, pre-cast concrete caissons; major  complex concrete formwork design and fabrication;

  • Post tensioned concrete constructions;

  • Major and minor Bridge construction; (Westgate Bridge re-construction to single span rural bridges)

  • Major earthworks related to freeway construction, building site developments and mining operations; 

  • Major earthworks and concrete works involved in sewage treatment works; 

  • Wharf construction and associated major marine works, including tube and concrete piles, piled ground slabs and roadworks;

  • Dredging, dewatering, geotextile design and construction;

  • Alluvial gold mining; ( Victoria and New Guinea)

  • Pre-cast concrete manufacturing; (pre cast rail sleepers; Building panels)

  • Inner city high-rise refurbishment; (offices into residential apartments)

  • Construction of industrial buildings; (warehouses, cold stores)

  • Sub-division construction;

  • Domestic building works; (Residential apartments and single dwellings)

  • Hi-Rise apartment Construction; (Financing, Construction, planning and coordination).

 

Bruce has worked or been associated with the following several major construction companies and organisations, namely:

 

  • Hydro-Electric Commission of Tasmania; (Site and section engineer)

  • Pearson Bridge; (Site and Project Engineer)

  • John Holland; (Section Engineer, Production Engineer)

  • Crow Industries; (Building Project Manager, Construction Manager)

  • Leighton Contractors; (Project Manager, Senior Civil Estimator)

  • Denbo Constructions; (Project Manager)

  • Concrete Constructions. (Project Manager and Contracts Advisor)

  • Fletcher Constructions; (Contracts Advisor)

  • Quinn Group of Companies. (Commercial and contract advisor.)

  • Seabay Properties; Contract Development/Commercial Consultant;  responsible for developement and construction completion for a 40 unit, seven level apartment complex on the Geelong waterfront.

  • Director and Principal of Rimlex Pty Ltd, since 1989, now a marine contracting and dredging company, operating on the Sunshine Coast

 

Whilst not current, Bruce has held an explosives licence, hydraulic and pin jib crane licences, Pile driver operator, excavator and FEL tickets and truck licence.

 

These experiences assist in the understanding of Nabis projects.
