Redcliffe Jetty Seawall Rehabilitation

WORK SCOPE:

Survey of the existing seawall to monitor movements during construction;;

Demolition of the face of the seawall to remove the concrete suffering from chloride attack;
-
An abrasive blast of the existing reinforcing and coating system application;

Supply & Installation of new reinforcing like-for-like to existing;
-
Supply and install galvanic anodes to the existing reinforcing;
-
Shotcrete high strength, non-shrink grout to the surface of wall;
-
Application of coating system to the finished concrete surface.
Demolition of Wall:

The existing concrete wall, built in the early 1900's, was beginning to fail primarily due to chloride attack.

The face of the wall, approx 120mm, was removed to 20mm behind the reinforcing.

All reinforcing reduced to 60% of its original thickness was removed and replaced. The reinforcing that remained was sandblasted and coated.
Reinforcing & Concreting Wall

The new reinforcing was installed and fastened to the wall along the existing reinforcing alignment;
-
All reinforcing reduced to 60% of its original thickness was removed and replaced. The reinforcing that remained was sandblasted and coated.

Galvanic Anodes were used on the existing reinforcing as a means of protection.

Two coating systems were applied to the wall on completion of the grout curing period to assist with the resistance to chloride attack.
